Allianz Champions “Power of Unity” by hosting Young Journalists Award Ceremony

By hosting the 2025 “Top30bis30” Medium Magazin Awards honoring Germany’s top 30 young journalists up to 30, Allianz brings its “ Power of Unity” program to life in the area of journalism – promoting constructive dialogue, social cohesion, and diversity in an increasingly polarized world.

At Allianz’s Munich headquarters, the event gathered 80 young journalists – current and former award recipients from across TV, radio, print, online and data journalism. Moderated by Medium Magazin publisher Annette Milz and editor-in-chief Frederik von Castell, the half-day program featured panel discussions, presentations, and debates on emerging trends in journalism, culminating in the award ceremony and a networking dinner.

The event gathered 80 young journalists at Allianz’s Munich headquarters.
“The diversity of perspectives represented here today shows how crucial pluralism is for a healthy media landscape,” said Annette Milz. Participants discussed topics ranging from the ethical challenges of reporting in geopolitical conflicts to the rise of documentary podcasts that openly share research or editorial decision-making, or the growing relevance of “impact journalism” that actively highlights solutions to social issues.
Lucie Bakker, Board Member of Allianz Versicherungs-AG responsible for Claims, engaged with the journalist community and shared how AI is helping to speed up claims processing.

A recurring theme throughout the event was the transformative influence of artificial intelligence – an area where both newsrooms and Allianz are undergoing significant change.  Lucie Bakker, Board Member of Allianz Versicherungs-AG responsible for Claims, engaged with the journalist community and shared how AI is helping to speed up claims processing. Even for cases which seem simple at first glance, such as a broken vase, sometimes up to 40 different questions may occur before it can be regulated – for example: Who or what destroyed the vase? Which insurance contract can be applied? Is it a recent one or an older policy with possibly different conditions? Where did the damage occur – inside or in the garden? To look into these details even an experienced claims manager would need some time. AI can give excellent support here by checking the available data automatically within seconds, relieving the burden on employees and helping to ensure a good and much faster customer experience.
The half-day program featured panel discussions, presentations, and debates on emerging trends in journalism.
Allianz’s partnership with Medium Magazin was more than a celebration of journalistic talent – it reflected a clear intention to foster unity and inclusion. “We congratulate all award winners of 2025 and wish them all the best for their future careers,” said Allianz host Florian Amberg, Allianz Group Head of Public Relations & Communications Intelligence. “Your work is essential. You inform, question, amplify a broad range of voices, and help society stay anchored in facts and truth. In doing this, you are practicing the most important ‘impact journalism’: You contribute daily to societal understanding and dialogue.”

Safety, Trust, and Liability: The Foundations of Autonomous Mobility

Regardless of the approaches being adopted in China, Europe or the US, the case for autonomous mobility begins with safety. Human error — fatigue, distraction and misjudgment — is still a leading cause behind road accidents. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have the potential to significantly reduce these risks. However, the journey to widespread adoption depends on more than just technological advancements. Public trust and clear liability frameworks are equally critical to the success of autonomous mobility.
