Phuong Ly to lead Allianz Commercial in Australia

Allianz today announced Phuong Ly has been appointed Chief General Manager, Allianz Commercial, Australia effective immediately. In this new role, he will be leading the new integrated approach of Allianz SE in the commercial insurance business bringing together Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) Australia, which focuses on large clients, and Allianz Australia Commercial division operations serving mid-sized country-based accounts under one strategy and approach.

Allianz Commercial will feature a single commercial lead in each country or region to represent the business for both mid-sized and large businesses with one face to the market, simplifying the experience of clients and distribution partners. In this new role, Phuong will report to Richard Feledy, Managing Director of Allianz Australia, in conjunction with AGCS CEO Joachim Mueller and will lead the new integrated approach between AGCS’ and Allianz Australia’s underwriting and distribution teams in the commercial insurance segment. 

Phuong joined Allianz Australia as Chief General Manager of the Commercial Division in October 2021. In this role Phuong is responsible for the development and execution of the Division's strategic plans, with the primary purpose of meeting the needs of Commercial customers via Brokers, Underwriting Agencies and Hunter Premium Funding. Phuong has 20 years of experience in the Insurance Industry and has held executive roles across Distribution and Underwriting.

Phuong Ly
Phuong has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and joined Allianz Australia as Chief General Manager Commercial in October 2021. Prior to joining Allianz Group, he was Chief Underwriting Officer AUSPAC at QBE and before that Executive General Manager, Business Distribution at IAG, as well as holding various other senior underwriting and distribution roles at IAG, CGU, Chartis and Munich Re. 
Additional appointments have been made in the other countries in the initial launch of Allianz Commercial: France, Germany and the UK.
