Michael Furtschegger appointed Regional Managing Director for Allianz Commercial Germany & Switzerland

From January 1, 2024, current Global Head of Entertainment, Michael Furtschegger will be the new Regional Managing Director for Allianz Commercial in Germany & Switzerland, succeeding Hans-Jörg Mauthe who retires at the end of 2023.

From January 1, 2024, Michael Furtschegger, currently Global Head of Entertainment, will head Allianz Commercial’s Germany & Switzerland region as its new Regional Managing Director. Current Managing Director Hans-Jörg Mauthe, who has held various senior leadership positions in his 30+ year career with Allianz Group, will retire at that time.

Michael Furtschegger (46) has been Allianz’s Global Head of Entertainment since October 2020. Previously he was responsible for the Entertainment portfolio of Allianz outside North America as Head of Entertainment International. Michael has been with Allianz since 2009, and his roles have included Executive Assistant to Axel Theis, former CEO of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (AGCS), and Head of Global Strategy & Development for AGCS’s Chief Underwriting Office Specialty. 

Hans-Jörg Mauthe joined Allianz in 1990 as a trainee, and subsequently held several roles at Allianz Versicherungs-AG, among them as Head of Commercial Liability and Head of Corporate Casualty. In 2006, he joined AGCS as Head of Liability / D&O Germany, before becoming Regional Head of Market Management in 2011 and Regional Managing Director Central & Eastern Europe in 2019. In March 2023, he was appointed Commercial Managing Director for the Germany & Switzerland region and has since represented the combined insurance business for mid-sized and large companies in the two markets.

Allianz Commercial’s Entertainment Line of Business will be managed on an interim basis by Global Head of Specialty, Gordon Browne, and a successor will be confirmed at a later date.
