Allianz Commercial appoints Hyeji Kang as new Chief Financial Officer

Press release | July 21, 2025

Allianz Commercial today announced that Hyeji Kang will become the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Allianz Commercial and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (‘AGCS’), with effect from October 1, 2025, subject to the usual regulatory approval. She will succeed Oskar Buchauer, who has decided to step down from the Board of Allianz Commercial and AGCS after 27 years at Allianz, and she will directly report to Thomas Lillelund, Chief Executive Officer at Allianz Commercial.

Thomas Lillelund, CEO Allianz Commercial, comments: “Oskar has contributed hugely to Allianz over a distinguished career and has been instrumental in establishing strong foundations for Allianz Commercial. I wish him the very best for the future. I welcome Hyeji back to Allianz Commercial and look forward to working with her in her new role.”

Oskar joined Allianz AG in 1998 as Team Lead for Life and Health Reinsurance. He established the Life Insurance team at Allianz Group Actuarial and, as Chief Risk Officer at Allianz Italy, pioneered an enterprise risk management strategy across all Group activities in that country. Joining Allianz SE in 2010 in Munich as Group Chief Actuary, and later expanding his responsibilities to include Global Planning & Controlling, Oskar steered the strategic planning process and actuarial function across Allianz Group. He joined AGCS SE and then Allianz Commercial as CFO in 2023.

Hyeji became CFO at Allianz Re in March 2024, having joined AGCS in 2015 as Chief Actuary in the Americas region. She subsequently was Head of Actuarial Function, Global Head of Reinsurance and Catastrophe Management, and latterly Global Head of Global Performance Steering for AGCS and Allianz Commercial. Prior to joining Allianz, she held various consulting and in-house positions in the M&A and actuarial fields. Hyeji holds a degree in Economics from the Seoul National University and is a qualified actuary in the U.S. Casualty Actuarial Society.
